Hello Sarah/ James
thank you for your great service and communications over the weekends. The 20.SP0 is a gorgeous device. I really like the switch cover, although I must thank you for setting it up for my Lyra Kleos SL. OK, so onto the sound.
So.. I am coming from a Goldnote PH-1000 which cost €6000 which is about £5000UK. So not cheap. I only heard about whest when a friend bought his over and I was converted within 30 minutes. The Brinkmann Taurus always sounded good but not great with the Goldnote phono stage. I was always hoping for more out of the system but the local dealer kept on trying to get me to buy a new cartridge or a bigger turntable.
The 20.SP0 turned up and I installed it. Within about 1 hour I could already hear it was doing things that the Goldnote just did not do. I now have bass. Not wooly bass but bass notes and notes with texture. The soundstage is, well, quite something else. I believe I am now hearing the strengths of the Brinkmann Taurus turntable. I am lost for words with what it does with the Tone Poet recordings. I know these so well and now I am hearing them as if I do not recognise them. Left and Right information is so prominent and they sound real.
I could go on and on, but it has been just one/two days and it is still warming up.
